volunteer opportunities

Ride share

Have a car or van? Ride Share involves volunteering as a Driver with your vehicle, similar to Uber or Lyft. You would use your vehicle to bring people to church and then ‘home’ again from locations around College Town and campus. This is an integral need on our Sunday mornings! We want those who desire to come to God’s House on Sunday - but lack transportation - to be provided for as best we can. Our belief is if God is drawing folks to Himself who don’t currently have transportation, He will provide the Drivers! Maybe that includes you! :-)

If you volunteer, an inquiry is sent out by the Dispatcher to all Drivers via GroupMe on Saturday. This allows Drivers to communicate if they are or are not available that week, and if they are, how many seats. Rider Assignments are then made early Sunday morning. Group texts are sent to every Driver and their assigned Riders. The weekly Rider information is also conveniently available to all Drivers on our Mobile App.

If you’re interested in being a Driver, you will be asked to provide a copy of a valid driver’s license, insurance card, license state/number for the Dispatcher to retain while you volunteer in this capacity for CCI.

hospitality

To facilitate fellowship during our weekly gatherings, CCI provides an array of breakfast/snack foods and beverages. Hospitality Teams of 2 or 3 people arrive early and prepare this buffet. Preparation may include: picking up the food at the nearby grocery store, making coffee, cutting bagels/donuts, slicing cheese, fruit, veggies, displaying and refilling the different items as needed. This is a popular way to serve family, friends and visitors!

cleaning

We like to keep our church home tidy and clean! Cleaning with just one industrious person takes ~ 2 hours per week. That time can be reduced significantly if teams are created. If you like spray bottles and vacuum cleaners, this is a great way to serve!

welcome/NAME TAGS

CCI emphasizes the importance of connecting with each person and welcoming them to our church family. Your smile and genuine interest can be a wonderful bit of comfort in new surroundings. Whether it’s a friendly face greeting folks and answering questions as they enter (Greeter), or creating name tags so we know each other’s name (Name Tags), a warm welcome makes a huge difference.

ushering

As our family grows, it’s important to make sure everyone finds a seat! If you’re outgoing and enjoy helping others, please consider Ushering. Volunteering as an Usher includes helping people find their seats, handing out bibles, setting up extra chairs when needed, being available to assist anyone during the service. Scheduling will be conducted through the Planning Center App.

Worship

Praising God through a variety of contemporary and traditional songs is an important part of our weekly worship service. By joining the Worship Team you can offer your musical talent to glorify God with your vocals and/or any instrument from bass guitar to harp. Worship practice is Sunday at 9:00 AM.

sunday school

Our children’s ministry consists of three classrooms for different age groups: Nursery:1 day - 3 years; PreK-2nd Grade: 4 - 7 years; Elementary: 8 - 12 years. Because our children attend worship, Sunday School starts after worship and lasts ~1 hour. Very doable for those new to teaching as well as for those with years of experience. There’s a very beautiful sense of purpose when investing in the younger folks in our family.

Volunteering involves preparing yourself through prayer and lesson prep (about 1 to 2 hours). Curriculum is accessed digitally and is designed to be user friendly for both students and teachers. Scheduling will be conducted through the Planning Center App. Our goal is to have at least 4 teams in the PreK and Elementary levels to make the frequency of commitment at each level no more than once per month.

media & tech

From updating the website, adjusting sound on a digital studio mixer or live streaming our service, there is plenty to help out with in our Media & Tech Ministry. Volunteering primarily involves arriving to church around 9:00 AM along with the Worship Team to set them up for playing, and then formatting lyrics/media for the service.
